Ode Siivonen

How long have you been competing?

Over 30 years of experience in skiing, snowboarding, rock- and ice climbing and mountaineering. 22+ years in skydiving and base jumping. Little bit of kayaking, biking, hiking, paragliding…

Where do you call home?

I am from Finland, living in Chamonix but I think I call the North home.

Favorite event or place to practice?

Riding big, steep pow lines in Lyngen, Norway.

What do you like best about your sport?

Being on the beautiful snowy mountains, seeing incredible places around the world and sharing it with friends who love to be there also. And of course charging down big lines with snowboard, climbing perfect granite cracks or see the sunrise on a summit.

What is the strangest thing that has happened to you while doing your sport?

A fireball flying down a mountainside 150km/h, flaming and hissing past us when we were going to a hut. Later I saw some gas tanks on a side of a hut terrace, someone must have knocked one down, it hit a rock and crack, took a sparkle…

Do you have a claim to fame?

I rather keep it low key

Do you promote an annual event or are you involved in a charitable cause?

Sending a fixed amount of € per month for UNICEF
